In the late 1990s, Michael Doran faced the State Bar and even though he was represented by counsel who secured his legal rights-- later when all the litigation was complete, in 1999, and he was suspended for that year and then on probation, he hired Lawyer, Defend Yourself for help studying for the ethics exam, for an accountant regarding his attorney trust account, and for help filing his probation reports. The organization left a favorable impression on how he was better able to secure his legal rights with the assistance of this organization. With the ultimate testimonial he has put his money where his mouth is and purchased the organization. Since he purchased the business he operates it as an admitted and in good standing attorney--but maintains its non legal and assistant services oriented approach to helping attorneys facing ethics issues--his vision is to maintain the same diverse non-legal and multidisciplinary services which help lawyers to help themselves facing ethics issues such as he faced and then had the help of Lawyer, Defend Yourself. So while Michael Doran does not practice State Bar law nor is there any attorney client or confidential relationship with Lawyer, Defend Yourself customers, it remains a team of professionals who provide California lawyers with quality advice and research second to none when faced with the ordeal of defending themselves in State Bar proceedings. It is a phenomenal resource. The library of documents created during the past two and a half decades of the existence of the organization is staggering. Lawyer, Defend Yourself is really the product of thousands of attorneys who have interacted with the organization which assisted them, just as it is an organization with experienced employees.
